Make Up of Instructional Time for Emergency Closings 
The school calendar has been revised to reflect the make up of 4 student instructional days lost due to weather-related emergency school closings on February 10, 11, 12 and 26. The 2009-2010 calendar approved by the School Board lists rescheduled days for use in the event of emergency school closings.

With the support of the School Board and the professional staff, March 26 will be changed from a staff inservice day to a day of instruction for students. As identified by the school calendar, in the event of a fifth emergency closing, March 29 will be a day of instruction for students. The inservice day for the professional staff originally scheduled for March 26 is rescheduled to March 29.

With these accommodations, the last student day will remain June 18, 2010, a half day for students.

Regular School Board Meeting Recap
The School Board met in regular session on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 7:30 pm at Conestoga High School.
 
Superintendent's Contract Renewed
At its regular meeting on February 22nd, the School Board voted to renew the contract of Superintendent Dr. Waters.

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP UPDATE

The Township Administrative Office will close at 3 PM on Thursday, February 25 due to inclement weather.

However, the Zoning Hearing Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 25 at 7:30 PM at the Township Building will proceed as scheduled.

Regular School Board Meeting Agenda 
The School Board will meet in regular session on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 7:30 pm at Conestoga High School.
 
February 8 Finance Committee Meeting on T/E TV
The meeting is airing daily at 9:00 p.m. on Comcast Channel 14 and Verizon Channel 20. 
Budget Update to the Community 
As reported in our November budget update communication, the T/E School District is experiencing the effects of economic pressures. Decreased revenue, contractual expense obligations, increased rate of the Pennsylvania School Employee Retirement System (PSERS) and
escalating health care costs are all contributing to T/E's current economic situation. This special update will be included in the winter T/E Insight mailing and will provide further information on T/E's current budget development and the steps the School District is considering to manage the 2010-2011 budget.

Budget Update from February 8th Finance Committee Meeting
On February 8, 2010 the T/E School Board Finance Committee met to discuss proposed strategies to close the 2010-2011 budget gap. Projections for 2010-2011 show an expected gap between revenues and expenditures of $9.25 million. The gap resulted from a loss in revenues and an increase in expenditures. The proposed strategies include actions to reduce expenditures, increase revenues and use existing reserves to close the budget gap. The School Board and administration are continuing to evaluate the impact of each proposed budget strategy on the District.
 
Revised 2009-2010 School Year Calendar 
Due to weather-related emergency closing days, the new tentative last day of school for students in grades 1-12 is Friday, June 18, 2010.

New T/E Board Talk Airs on T/E TV 
This edition features segments on the proposed changes to the 7th and 8th grade middle school program, the 2010-2011 school year budget and an introduction to new School Board members. The program airs daily at 6:00 pm on T/E TV, Comcast Cable Channel 14 and Verizon Channel 20.

TREDYFFRIN TOWNSHIP - SNOW EMERGENCY INFORMATION

THE TOWNSHIP ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE IS CLOSED WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10 AND THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11 DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.
Unless absolutely necessary, please stay off of the roads on Wednesday and Thursday to help the road crews finish the job of cleaning up after this massive storm. Your cooperation and patience is appreciated.
