| | School Board Hosts Community Budget Workshop and Discusses New Budget Balancing Strategies The School Board held a community Budget Workshop on March 28, 2011. The workshop is currently airing on T/E TV, Comcast Channel 14 and Verizon Channel 20 at 9:00 pm daily and at 10:00 am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. As the School Board continues to seek additional savings to address the projected budget imbalance of approximately $8.9 million, it has become apparent that a spirit of shared sacrifice is needed among all employees and interest groups to close the budget gap. As a result, two new budget balancing strategies were introduced at the Budget Workshop. The Board has already approved a number of cost reduction strategies including the elimination of pay raises for all non-union employees in 2011-2012. The Board joins the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) in calling on T/E's instructional and non-instructional collective bargaining units to accept a one-year pay waiver as their shared sacrifice to support T/E students. A one-year pay waiver would waive contracted raises for the two unions' employees for the 2011-2012 school year and would result in a cost savings of approximately $3,000,000. The Board values the dedicated employees of the T/E school community and invites the T/E union employee groups to join the Board in supporting the PSEA's wage freeze request. Finance Committee to Continue Budget Discussion on April 11, 2011
The Finance Committee will meet on April 11, 2011 at 7:30 pm in the Conestoga High School auditorium to continue its discussion of the 2011-2012 budget. Please note the location change.

In addition, the following meetings have been moved from the Tredyffrin/Easttown Administration Offices (TEAO) to Conestoga High School (CHS). Please note that the June 1, 2011 Special School Board meeting remains at the TEAO and the time remains at 5:30 pm. All other meetings will be held at 7:30 pm.

| Changes to School Board Policy 5116, Nonresident Students - Enrollment Eligibility At its March regular meeting, the School Board approved changes to Policy 5116, Nonresident Students - Enrollment Eligibility. The notable changes are as follows: A student who does not reside in the District as of the first student day of the school year but who will reside in the District by October 1 may no longer enroll in a District school by presenting proof of intent to move into a residence located in the District. Even if proof is presented that the nonresident student will establish residency by October 1 of that school year, the student will not be permitted to enroll in a District school as a nonresident student. Any District resident students whose families move from the District after April 1 shall no longer be allowed to continue to be enrolled during that current school year. |
