September 8th Presidential Education Speech At 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, President Obama will be making a speech directed to American students about the importance of education. The U.S. Department of Education has distributed lesson plan ideas for teachers to consider for use in conjunction with this speech. The White House web site will broadcast the speech through streaming video. Based on the timing of the speech, the configuration of the District network and the potential for alignment with District curriculum, we have implemented these measures. The speech will not be broadcast in any large group settings in District schools. Individual teachers who may be considering whether or not to use the speech to support classroom instruction are asked to review the speech first. If connections to the curriculum or benefits for instruction are identified, the speech may be aired to classes at a later date. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Todd Parker, Social Studies Curriculum Supervisor at (610) 240-1909. |
