School Board to Vote to Adopt 2012-2013 Preliminary Budget on January 23, 2012 On January 3, 2012, the School Board authorized the Administration to display the proposed 2012-2013 preliminary budget that includes a tax increase of approximately 3.3%. The School Board will vote to adopt this preliminary budget at its meeting on January 23, 2012 at 7:30 pm in the T/E School District Administration Offices at 940 West Valley Road, Suite 1700 in Wayne. School Board Discusses Budget Strategies and Reviews Negotiating Team On January 9, 2012, the Finance Committee began where the School Board left off at its special meeting on January 3, 2012. At that meeting, the School Board authorized the Administration to display the proposed 2012-2013 preliminary budget that includes a tax increase of approximately 3.3%. The School Board will vote to adopt this preliminary budget at their meeting on January 23, 2012 at 7:30 pm in the T/E School District Administration Offices. The proposed tax increase in the preliminary budget would leave a remaining imbalance of approximately $3.2 million.The Board has already accepted budget strategies of $700,000 for next school year, leaving a remaining deficit of approximately $2.5 million.   The Finance Committee then discussed two of the 2012-2013 budget strategies related to outsourcing for custodial services. It was reported that the Board will continue conversations with the T/E Non-Instructional Group (TENIG) about cost savings provided by the TENIG group versus the possible cost savings available to the District through outsourcing of work. Continuing on the review of the budget strategies, the Committee requested additional information from the Administration on the strategy of charging for extra-curricular activities and for the transportation required for extra-curricular activities. Tredyffrin Township     E-Newsletter January 2012     EVENTS  Trout Creek Stormwater Overlay District   Tredyffrin Township is working on a zoning amendment to develop an overlay district in the Trout Creek Watershed. The overlay district is intended to encourage redevelopment on large properties in the Trout Creek Watershed that will include stormwater facilities to better manage runoff. The Township has conducted studies to evaluate and develop recommendations to improve the condition of the Trout Creek Watershed. The zoning amendment is part of the implementation effort. The Planning Commission will continue its discussion of this ordinance at its meeting on Thursday, January 19, 7:00 pm in the Township Building. There will be a public hearing for the Trout Creek Overlay District Ordinance following the public meeting of the Board of Supervisors on Monday, January 23rd, 7:30 pm in the Township Building.   Please check our website, www.tredyffrin.org, for the latest version of this draft ordinance.    Tennis Lessons   Registration is now open for Winter Junior and Adult tennis at Radnor Racquet Club with David Broida and staff. Classes begin Sunday, January 15th. Ages 4 through adult, beginners, advanced beginners and intermediates. New students welcome! Learn all aspects of tennis - forehand, backhand, serve, and volley, etc. as well as strategy and the mental game. In addition, local fire companies provide tips on staying safe this holiday season on their websites. Please follow the links on our First Responders page for more information. Road Construction   Aqua Pennsylvania will be replacing the water main on the following streets: Contention Lane (between West Wind Drive and a point 290 feet north of West Wind Drive), Churchill Drive (between Coldstream Drive and a point 200 feet north of Coldstream Drive), and Winston Way (between West Wind Drive and a point 135 feet north of Coldstream Drive). This project is scheduled to begin the week of January 16th and be completed around the end of February 2012. Crews will work weekdays between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm daily, and may be some minor traffic disruptions during this construction project but flagmen will be onsite.
