Tredyffrin Township   December 2011           Electronics Recycling Event!     Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships are excited to announce they will be holding a FREE Electronic Collection Event on Saturday, January 7th. The event will take place from 9 am until 1 pm at Wilson Farm Park. Residents are encouraged to bring “anything with a plug” including TVs, computers, computer peripherals and accessories, CRT monitors, cameras, cell phones, fax machines, printers, air-conditioners and small appliances. January 3, 2012 Special School Board Meeting: 2012-2013 Budget The School Board will hold a special meeting on January 3, 2012 to consider the 2012-2013 budget. Children who plan to enter the T/E School District in grades two through four in September are also encouraged to register at this time. School Board Re-Elects Officers and Swears In New School Board Members  At its annual reorganization meeting on December 5, 2011, the Tredyffrin/Easttown Board of School Directors re-elected Karen Cruickshank as president and Betsy Fadem as vice president. Newly elected School Board members Kris Graham and Liz Mercogliano were sworn in by Betsy Fadem. Kris and Liz replace Kevin Mahoney and Debbie Bookstaber, both of whom retired from the School Board and did not seek re-election.    Kris and Liz join incumbent Board members Karen Cruickshank, Jim Bruce and Pete Motel, who were also sworn in at the meeting. Board members Betsy Fadem, Kevin Buraks, Anne Crowley and Richard Brake continue their 4-year terms.   School Board Committee assignments for 2012 are available in the School Board section of the TESD web site under "Committees."   The meeting is currently airing on TETV, Comcast Channel 14 and Verizon Channel 20 at 9:00 pm daily and at 10:00 am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The meeting could be pre-empted by the Conestoga High School winter music concert on Wednesdays, in which case the meeting will begin at 9:45 pm. T/E Schools Make Adequate Yearly Progress in 2010-2011   The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has released Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) results for the 2010-2011 school year. All eight T/E schools made Adequate Yearly Progress.   According to the PDE web site, the purpose of AYP is to ensure that all students have reading and math skills that prepare them for the future. AYP is based on test results from the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA), state-mandated exams in reading and math for grades 3, 5, 8, and 11.
