May 30, 2012 Special School Board Meeting
The School Board will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 5:30 pm at the Tredyffrin/Easttown Administration Offices at 940 West Valley Road, Suite 1700, in Wayne to approve the Conestoga High School class of 2012 graduates. Click here for the meeting agenda.

School Board Approves 2012-2013 Proposed Final Budget

At its regular meeting on May 14, 2012, the T/E School Board approved the 2012-2013 proposed final budget. The 2012-2013 proposed final budget includes a property tax increase of 3.3%; which results in approximately $3.0 million in revenue, or an additional $155 to the average assessed T/E homeowner; over $1.4 million in expense reductions and revenue enhancements; and a contribution of more than $1.5 million in fund balance to address the nearly $6 million projected gap between revenues and expenditures. To generate additional revenue to address the projected budget imbalance, the School Board directed the administration in January 2012 to apply to the State for referendum exceptions to the Act 1 tax increase cap of 1.7%. The State approved the District's application for exceptions, providing the School Board with the option to raise taxes above the Act 1 cap by an additional 1.6%.  Click here for the 2012-2013 proposed final budget presentation slides.

The 2012-2013 proposed final budget could be impacted by threats to projected revenues and expenses. The District is at risk of losing an additional $1.4 million in property tax revenue to commercial property assessment appeals. There is also the potential for additional spending of $3.2 million as the result of grievances filed by the Tredyffrin/Easttown Education Association (TEEA) related to the change of the high school teachers teaching 6 periods instead of 5 this year. Click here for the full press release.
