Inspections & Permit Services

As we again prepare for winter season, like clockwork, we see boats and campers come home to hibernate until the warmer temperatures return. And by doing so, those marina winterizing and/or campground storage fees can be reduced substantially as we take care of those tasks ourselves at home.  Like many, that is where mine is. Nice and cozy in my back yard.

In many cases, the larger, or as some would say, supersized recreational vehicles can't make the corner around the house and end up stationed in a side or front yard eagerly but patiently waiting for the return trip back to its natural habitat in the spring.

Unfortunately, without proper screening, "meaning" fully blocking a recreational vehicle from the street and/or neighboring properties, this situation would be in violation of the Township general use regulation for residential properties. But I can say with experience that besides the prohibited condition, popular opinion demonstrates that the appearance most often has a negative effect on the neighborhood's overall appeal. In most cases, a six foot fence would not be enough to totally screen the vehicle from view. And plantings like arborvitae just take too long to mature to a height that would accomplish code compliance.

So, allow me to offer the following:

Downsize to a humbling inspector's recreational experience or take some time to think the situation through and avoid my hassling you at the worst possible time of the year.

Hope the holidays were spectacular. See you on the lake.
