EVENTS 

Household Hazardous Waste Event 

 

There will be a household hazardous waste and computer collection event for Chester County residents on Saturday, October 8th, 9 am to 3 pm at the Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Road, West Chester, PA 19380. Please click here for more information.

 

This is the last event to be held in Chester County in 2011!

 

Cassatt Road Compost Site for Residents

 

The Township will open the Cassatt Road compost site to residents weekdays beginning October 11th, 7:30 am to 2:45 pm. Through the generosity of resident volunteers, the site will also be open on Saturdays beginning October 8th, 10 am to 3 pm. If you would like to contribute your time as a volunteer, please contact us at 610-644-1400 or tredyffrin@tredyffrin.org.

 

Acceptable material includes branches from trees and bushes with these requirements: maximum diameter 6 six inches, maximum length 12 feet, minimum length 4 feet. The following materials will not be accepted at the site: Twigs and hedge clippings, vines, fresh or rotten firewood, stumps, roots, garden debris, and thorn bushes.

Winter Recreation Program 

 

Information on the Winter Recreation Program for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade at the Valley Forge Elementary School is now available online. You will also receive a registration form in the Fall/Winter print newsletter due out later this month. Any questions should be directed to Hilliary Mallory at hmallory@tredyffrin.org or 610-408-3626.

 

Municipal Elections

 

 

The Municipal Elections will be held on Tuesday, November 8th. The last day to register to vote in this election is October 11th. For more information, please visit Chester County Voter Services.

 

The Board of Supervisors debate will be held on October 24th, 7 pm in the Township Building. This event has been organized by the League of Women Voters.

Economic Development Initiative

 

The Board of Supervisors is seeking candidates interested in helping with the Township's Economic Development Initiative, the goal of which is to identify and implement ideas to improve economic development within the Township. Anyone interested in serving on the Economic Development Subcommittee should submit a resume to tredyffrin@tredyffrin.org by October 7th, 2011 for consideration.

Vote Online for The Berwyn Fire Company to Win a $10,000 Grant

The Berwyn Fire Company is in the running to win a $10,000 grant from Liberty Mutual. The ten fire companies receiving the most votes from now until the end of October will win the grant. To help the Berwyn Fire Company win the grant please go to www.befiresmart.com.

Take the Fire Safety Pledge  (bottom left). They'll email you a confirmation message. When you receive the confirmation message you then click on the link and the Berwyn Fire Company will have the vote registered. You can live anywhere in the US and still vote for the Berwyn Fire Company. Please support one of the busiest fire and emergency medical response organizations on the Main Line. Green Neighborhoods

Sarah Ahmann Kligman, who is also a longtime member of Tredyffrin's EAC, produces "Green Neighborhoods," an educational series that showcases experts in the ecological fields teaching us all how to make a difference in helping the environment. Topics include creating rain gardens, seasonal pools, and backyard habitats; how to use a rain barrels; and, currently on air, a two-part lecture by the world-renouned Dr. Doug Tallamy on "Fighting Extinction" by planting native plants.
