Battle of Paoli Public Recognition Meeting
The Historical Commission has been working on a project that is part of Chester County's grant-funded Battle of Paoli American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP). The County will present the final outcome of the Battle of Paoli American Battlefield Protection Grant and honor the dedicated work of the Historical Commissions who made this project possible on Wednesday, November 30th, 7 pm - 9 pm, Easttown Library. Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test As part of their ongoing efforts to keep our country and communities safe during emergencies, the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Emergency Management Agency will conduct the first nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). The EAS test plays a key role in ensuring the nation is prepared for all hazards, and that the U.S. public can receive critical and vital information, should it ever be needed. The first nationwide test will be conducted Wednesday, November 9th, 2 pm. This test may last up to three and a half minutes, and, similar to local emergency alert system tests, an audio message will interrupt television and radio programming indicating: “This is a test.” When the test is over, regular programming will resume. On November 9th at 2 pm EDT, please remember: Don’t stress; it’s only a test. |
Tredyffrin Public Library is Closed for Renovation Full Library Closing: In order to complete improvements to the building, the library closed on October 25th and will reopen Thursday, November 10th. You will still be able to drop off items in the book drops outside in the parking lot. The Library’s large meeting room will be open as a polling place for voting on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8th. The parking lot and meeting room will be available to voters and the book drop in the entry hallway will be accessible for returns. The remainder of the building will be closed. |
Assistance Still Available for Damage from Hurricanes Irene and Lee The deadline is nearing for residents and business owners who had damage from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee to apply for disaster assistance. The registration deadline is November 14th, 2011. The deadline to submit a disaster loan application to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for disaster-related losses is also November 14th, 2011.
