Tredyffrin Township Declares Snow Emergency

Tredyffrin Township Declares Snow Emergency - Wednesday, February 12, 10pm

Due to weather conditions, Tredyffrin Township has issued a snow emergency beginning at 10 pm tonight and through Friday, February 14, 6am, as authorized by Section 195-41 of the Tredyffrin Township Codebook of Ordinances. This will assist in snow removal and the  safe passage of emergency vehicles.

Based on current forecasts, this will be a long event with wet heavy snow and winds. The Township is anticipating that there will be prolonged power outages and is urging residents to be prepared. Visit www.tredyffrin.org for details on how to prepare for and what to do during power outages.

In addition, the Township will be opening its Emergency Operations Center at 10 pm on Wednesday, February 12th to ensure efficient coordination between all emergency response agencies. The Township Building will be available as a warming and device charging station for residents beginning at 10 pm on Wednesday, February 12th and will remain open until at least Friday afternoon, dependent on conditions. Should the need for shelters arise, the Township will coordinate with the County and provide residents with information.

After a snow emergency is declared, it shall be unlawful, at any time during the continuance of the emergency, for any person, firm or corporation:

  • To park a motor vehicle or to allow that vehicle to remain parked anywhere on any snow emergency route designated pursuant to this article; or
  • To drive any vehicle on any such snow emergency route unless that vehicle is equipped with snow tires, chains, or other suitable tract devices; or
  • To drive any vehicle which then becomes stuck on any snow emergency route during a snow emergency because of or related to the failure of that vehicle to be equipped with snow tires, chains, or other suitable traction devices.

The list of designated emergency routes is listed at here.
