ARCH Partners with Police Department to Offer Continual Safe Disposal of Prescription Drugs

Area Residents Caring & Helping (ARCH), a local non-profit, has partnered with the Tredyffrin Township Police Department to provide the local community with a safe and convenient way to properly dispose of unneeded and expired prescription drugs. ARCH purchased and the Police Department will maintain the green MedReturn prescription drug collection box that is now installed in the lobby of the Township Building.

Sewer Line in Valley Forge National Historical Park

There was a break in a large sewer main in Valley Forge National Historical Park, near Wilson Road and Valley Creek. A temporary pipe has been installed and work is underway to replace the damaged pipe. In order to ensure the safety of park visitors and construction crews, the following restrictions are in place in Valley Forge National Historical Park until further notice: Wilson Road is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic; Library Lane is closed to all vehicle traffic. Pedestrian traffic is permitted between the Knox Trail and the Mt. Misery/Covered Bridge trailheads; Valley Creek trails are closed between the Knox Trail and the turnpike underpass to Chesterbrook; Valley Creek is closed to all access, including fishing, between Wilson Road and the turnpike underpass to Chesterbrook; and Existing No Parking regulations will be enforced along the Yellow Springs Road shoulder.

Look What's New in Recreation!

The Township has added several new recreation programs, including a soccer program this spring, and Police and Philadelphia Ultimate Camps this summer! Please visit our Parks and Recreation page for more information on these and our regular recreation programs.

Transportation

Hilltop Road and Friendship Drive: As part of its ongoing infrastructure improvement program, Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. will be replacing the water main on the following streets: Hilltop Road (between Bear Road and Friendship Drive) and Friendship Drive (between Hilltop Road and Bearhill Road). There will be minor traffic disruptions on weekdays from 7:30 am to 5 pm, but flaggers will be onsite. The project should be completed by July, 2012. Any questions should be directed to Aqua's Superintendent of Construction, Mike Fili, at 610-430-0747.

Chester Valley Trail: Phase 2 of the Chester Valley Trail project, between Route 29 and the Tredyffrin/Upper Merion township line, began in March, 2012. The County has selected Allan A. Myers, L.P. to complete construction and the project is estimated to take 15 to 18 months, weather permitting. This project is part of Chester County's plan for a former railroad right of way between Struble Trail in Downingtown Borough through the length of Tredyffrin Township to the Chester County/Montgomery County line in King of Prussia.

Alert! Fire Safety Equipment Scam

Businesses in Pennsylvania have fallen victim to a scam involving the inspection of fire safety equipment. Typically, the suspect enters an establishment and falsely claims to be a representative of a fire prevention entity and requests to inspect fire extinguishers and/or alarms. After completing the "inspection," the suspect demands to be paid in cash. These incidents have occurred at various types of businesses including restaurants, bakeries, ice cream parlors, and nail salons. For more information, please click here.

Tidy Up Tredyffrin!

The Tidy Up Tredyffrin 5th Annual Spring Clean Up Days will be on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, 9 am - 3 pm. Whether you're an individual or part of a group, and even if you only have 1 hour to spare, you can make a difference. Every little bit helps! This event is sponsored, in part, by the Environmental Advisory Council.
