| School Board Discusses Budget Strategies at April 16, 2012 Budget Workshop The School Board held a public Budget Workshop on April 16, 2012 at Conestoga High School. The Workshop will begin airing on T/E TV, Comcast Channel 14 and Verizon Channel 20, daily at 4:00 pm beginning Monday, April 23, 2012. At the Workshop, the Board reviewed student enrollment trends, staffing needs and new budget projections. The Board also discussed budget strategies that have already been accepted for 2012-2013 as well as strategies that are still under review. The Board made the decision to continue studying the budget strategies of demotion of professional staff for economic reasons and increase class size by one student at each level. In addition, the Board decided to defer the budget strategy of eliminating elementary and middle school music lessons until next year to complete further study of available options. Canine Unit Conducts Search at Conestoga High School
On Friday, April 20, 2012, a canine sniff search was conducted at Conestoga High School due to continued District efforts to provide a safe and drug free learning environment for all students. The search was announced through the public address system and conducted during a lockdown status, during which instruction continued. The search involved two dogs, dog handlers, Conestoga administrators and Tredyffrin Township police officers. The search involved approximately 600 student backpacks and lockers. No illegal substances were found. The search was concluded in approximately 45 minutes. The District's goal, working through the Safety Committee and in partnership with the community, continues to be a safe and drug free environment for students. |
